Learn to use a router to engrave, form a decorative wood edge, or cut a basic woodworking cabinet joint. This introductory class will present basic information about using one of the most versatile tools in the shop. Topics include router safety, types of routers and bits, bit installation, adjustment, and router maintenance. Handheld routing – freehand, using edge guiding bits, and routing with guide fences will be demonstrated. Students will have an opportunity for hands-on practice of the skills presented. Students may bring their own router to customize fixtures for their machine.
